What is the difference between Blephaclean & Blephaclean PF?

The difference between the two products is that the material of the Blephaclean PF wipe is 100% plant-based (cellulose fibres) whereas the previous version contains plastic fibres. The lotion in both products is identical.

Why is Blephaclean being changed to Blephaclean PF?

Théa is focused on Corporate Social Responsibility. That's why Blephaclean is now available with 100% plastic-free plant-based wipes (cellulose fibres). Blephaclean PF takes environmental issues into account while still respecting your skin.

Is Blephaclean PF biodegradable? And compostable?

Biodegradability tests have not been carried out on Blephaclean PF. ‘Biodegradable’ or ‘compostable’ claims may imply that wipes can be flushed down the toilet or disposed of in ‘nature’. In fact they should always be disposed of in household waste.

Is Blephaclean PF still suitable to use from 3 months of age?

Yes, Blephaclean PF is still suitable for babies from 3 months old.

Does Blephaclean PF look and feel the same as existing Blephaclean?

The two wipes look and feel the same. The two products can be easily identified because the outer packaging is different with a green logo on Blephaclean PF explaining the composition of the wipe.

What is the role of plastic used in the previous version of Blephaclean?

With plastic (polyester), the wipe is somewhat more resistant to tearing, pilling and fraying and more elastic/stretches more.

What is the mechanism of action of Blephaclean PF?

The mechanism of action of Blephaclean PF is the same as Blephaclean - gentle rubbing with the impregnated wipe helps to clean and remove residue from the eyelids and lashes.

What are the cellulose fibres in Blephaclean PF?

The cellulose fibres used in Blephaclean PF are 100% plant based viscose fibres.

Is Blephaclean PF tested on animals?

No animal testing has been conducted or commissioned for the finished cosmetic product Blephaclean PF or for the ingredients of which it is composed.

Are Blephaclean PF wipes preservative-free?

Blephaclean PF is not considered to be preservative-free because, even though the formula has not changed, the product status has changed (from Medical Device to a Cosmetic). This means different regulations apply to the claims that can be made.

How does the forthcoming Plastics (Wet Wipes) Bill impact Blephaclean or Blephaclean PF?

New Blephaclean PF aligns with the proposed requirements of the Bill to remove plastic from all single use wet wipes.

Is there a price difference between Blephaclean or Blephaclean PF?

The recommended retail price of Blephaclean PF remains unchanged.

Will the current Blephaclean be discontinued?

Existing Blephaclean CE mark medical device will still be available in the UK, but only for hospitals and those who have a prescription for the product from their GP for medical reasons.
